Some couples ask for a few beautiful arrangements. This one asked for a all encompassing, floral experience. Our bride came to us in the early planning stages with a clear vision: soft, romantic, garden-inspired — a whisper of pink, with pale blue woven through as an accent, all grounded in an ivory and white floral base (our Avery collection). She wanted that palette to show up everywhere, from the moment guests arrived at the front steps to the last centerpiece on the reception floor, without a single spot in the venue feeling like an afterthought.

That kind of full-venue coverage is exactly where our luxury silk florals earn their keep. We were able to build out a color story in a showstopping way — dozens of stems, urns, and garlands worth — and layer in fresh accent florals where a touch of realism and fragrance mattered most, like near the ceremony seating and on the tablescapes.

Designing Around The Bride's Floral Vision

The first step with any large-scale wedding is translating a bride's Pinterest board into an actual, buildable color formula. We started with several design calls, For this palette, we custom-mixed blush pink tones with pops of pale blue delphinium and hydrangea, all set against an ivory-and-white base of roses and hydrangeas. Because we work with silk, we could hold that exact mix consistent across ten large statement urns, two oversized ceremony florals on pedestals, a full aisle of florals, and a variety of centerpiece sizes to fill the room. Fresh flowers alone rarely allow that kind of precision at scale — dye lots, seasonal availability, and vendor sourcing all introduce variation. Silk let us guarantee that the blush in urn one matched the blush in urn eight, table one matched table twenty.

Framing the View, Not Fighting It

Bluemont's ceremony terrace looks out over miles of open countryside, and our job was to enhance that backdrop, not compete with it. We placed eight large floral urns along the back of the ceremony rows to give the aisle structure and rhythm, then reserved our biggest, most dramatic arrangements for two pedestals at the very front of the ceremony site — tall enough to be seen from every seat, but positioned and shaped so the sightline to the hills beyond stayed open. A low floral garland tied the two pedestals together at ground level, adding fullness without adding height.

It was also, famously, a windy day at the top of that hill. Fresh arrangements of this scale can be genuinely difficult to keep upright and intact in open-air, elevated venues once the wind picks up. Because our pieces were built on silk, we were able to adjust the mechanics of the installation on site — reinforcing the base weight and adapting how each arrangement was secured — without touching the design itself. Nor did our florals suffer weather related damage from sun or wind, another key advantage of making use of our high- quality silk florals.

Built Into the Photo Moments

We placed florals anywhere we knew a camera would be — cascading florals down the front entrance steps to greet guests as they arrived, and a soft floral moment at the entryway into the ceremony aisle itself. These are details that don't get seen by every guest in the room, but they show up in nearly every getting-ready photo, first-look photo, and grand entrance shot a couple will treasure. Because we have a large inventory of florals to work with, we didn't have to choose between the ceremony, the reception, and these in-between photo opportunities, but could provide florals for all of it.

Reception: Same Palette, New Scale

Inside, the same pink, pale blue, and ivory mix carried straight through to the reception. A long, low floral runner wrapped the length of the head table backdrop and continued down along the dance floor, and tall glass trumpet vases held oversized centerpieces at guest tables — full, garden-style arrangements of blush and ivory roses, hydrangea, and delphinium with cascading greenery. Repeating a single, carefully mixed palette at this scale is what made the room feel cohesive rather than assembled — every corner of the reception reflected the same design decisions made for the ceremony.

This is the part of the day we love talking about most. A wedding with this much floral coverage — ten urns, two grand pedestals, a full aisle of florals, a beautiful stairwell full of cascading florals, a long King's Table completely filled with florals, and a room full of tall centerpieces — would represent an enormous investment if built entirely from fresh flowers, and fresh florals in that volume simply wouldn't hold up outdoors on a windy hilltop through an entire day of photos, a ceremony, and a reception.
